First of
all, I must admit that the Cameroon music industry is in a growing phase and
what I really don’t understand is, how can the birthplace of a world renowned
musical genre (MAKOSSA) be in a growing phase? Like one time the Nigerian music
industry was looking up to us musically not only Nigeria but West Africa as a
whole and it just kind of switched along the way and now we find ourselves in a
growing sphere. Well some say its due to the bilingualism of the country and
how its difficult to satisfy both sets musically as one has to be able to sing
in both languages to be sure to get his song listened to(though I see it as an
advantage) why others say its due to lack of collaboration between the upcoming
artists as each of them outshow more ego in their character and I for one I
vote for for the above points stated
and to add, I equally have to say
already established artists have to help upcoming and amateur artists. Its
termed growing because for the moment we have the lights or Mr Leo, Daphne,
Salatiel, Locko, Nabila just to name a few and there is a big gab now in the
industry for any upcoming artists to steal their spots and that is where this
artist Stonswiss comes In and that’s
exactly what he is trying to do.
For a personal
experience, I met this young artist in an event I attended in Douala and that
day he was on stage pouring out some positive
energy to the audience and I felt the light in this guy (don’t get me wrong
abeg lol) though he sang in English, the French crowd was going gaga for his
songs and I too though not being an singer nor a musician but I felt how
vocally stable he was and how energetic he was too so I waited for him to climb
down the stage and I immediately went up to him and had the chance to listen to
some of his works.I was astonished as this young talent has to be somewhere but
rather he is somewhere else so i opted to help promote his content which he
gave me the go ahead and now here I am to support him and see him grow. Lemme
quit all this talking and bla bla bla and let you judge for yourself. This is
just one of his mega songs and there is more where this is coming from and to
clear up the air, he is free and not under any label so I guess this is the
chance for those who are looking to invest or who had plans on signing a new
artist this year to come and enjoy the n thank me later.
