
The largest opposition political party in Cameroon,the Social Democratic Front(SDF), has launched a petition demanding the release of former President Laurent Gbagbo who is on trial at the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity.
The petition was launched last weekend at a NEC meeting held in Bamenda, North-West of Cameroon in the presence of party Chairman , John Fru Ndi.
The SDF says it will gather supporting signatures demanding the release of former Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo jailed since 2011 in The Hague, the Netherlands.
According to party spokesman John Fru Ndi,
“The SDF has launching this call for the release of a true son of Africa. In the absence of all those responsible in the crisis that shook the Ivory Coast, all the decisions taken at The Hague will have no legitimacy,” he added that,
