The shadow cabinet minister of the SDF (Social Democratic Front) thinks that the Government has not disclosed the real information behind the 500,000 Chinese laptops acquired for Cameroonian students for the academic year 2016 /2017.
like many other Cameroonians, He believes that the 75 billion CFA francs spent on these electronic devices is huge compared to the announced amount. ” On the price of the laptops, he said that the price of a laptop in a store in China costs only 40,000 FCFA, and this Buying price of 500,000 laptops at amounting to 75 billion CFA francs in this country is nothing other than embezzlement of public funds by an organized gang.
He futher explained that a gap of more than 55 billion FCFA exist in this deal that is unaccounted for and unfortunately will be funded by the Cameroonian taxpayer.
According to Wafo, Cameroonian students, have other more important needs than these LAPTOPS given by the Head of State . He also calls on the Republic to open a criminal investigation into ” this scandalous affair .”
Adding that Economically, it is absurd that we are still importing finished material and ready for use in a high amount.In a win-win partnership, the State of Cameroon should have built an assembly plants, so computers are assembled here to creat jobs.
