IVORAY COAST TO CREATE A COMPUTER ASSEMBLY PLANT WITH 4 BILLION FCFA PRODUCING ABOUT 2000 COMPUTERS PER DAY

 By the end of the year, the Grand-Bassam Technology Free Zone will house an industrial unit for computer assembly including tablets and smartphones.
 Capable of producing 2,000 computers per day, this industrial unit will be accompanied by an incubation center and a technological university. All this in an area of 7000m2, with an investment of 4 billion CFA francs, or 1.4 billion CFA francs disbursed by the VITIB and 2.6 billion CFA francs for the Cerco group. On Friday 29 July in the Grand Bassam Free Zone, the two entities signed a concession agreement for the provision and operation of the industrial unit. Indeed, it is in favor of a call for expressions of interest issued by the VITIB on the establishment of a computer assembly plant that the Cerco group was appointed as concessionaire of the project.

Dr. Alain Capochichi, founding president of the Cerco group, estimated that the project will revolutionize the digital environment in the sub-region and thereby making Ivory Coast the ‘African Google. ” Mr. Capochichi said further that this assembly plant, whose work is 30% of execution, will feature to sell on the local and subregional market a range of IT products of Ivorian “Open” brand. Note that the group already sells in the local market this brand of computer, with a production capacity of 400 computers per day.
