Mellor Karl Mambap, known professionally as Ston swiss, is a Cameroonian afro bea(s)t artist who currently lives in the economic capital of Cameroon Douala. Born and raised in Bamenda-Cameroon, he first came into the Cameroonian music scene with the release of his first track “Sarah (Gimme Dat Ting)”; engage with his “don’t say a word I want it on a beat attitude”, he aims at being an African Beast as he always calls himself.
From 2017 to 2019, he has been on an off and on run as he quotes “doing music in Cameroon is like trying to separate Jay Z from Beyoncé (a real challenging task)”. 2019 was a virgin year for Ston swiss as he never released any official song. He deliberately went low-key to process and record more tracks waiting for the right moment to star out his career in style. His debut single, titled "Sarah", never really matched his expectations from the original hype he was already getting from the song.
“Give Ston swiss a mic and he will deliver you from boredom.
Filled with self-confidence and brilliance all laced with a high active
Pop energy, I’m certain he is here to challenge the 237 music sphere”
Valery Atia, CEO Urban Jamz Award
Ston Swiss was born Bamenda on December 1, 1995, in Regional hospital in Bamenda Cameroon. he was raised in the Nkwen neighborhood. Ston swiss grew up spending so much time with his mom as his dad was the "don’t give a damn type”." As a youth, Ston Swiss was always seen engaging himself in musical activities (choir, music group “who named themselves The GBMC’s”) since he was 13 his choir maestro always said he had a high tone and always placed him to sing along with the girls. He went on to attend Regina Pacis high school where he met the guys who propelled him hard into the music world and he switched to being a rapper only after some years passed before he went back to his singing ways.
During his teenage years, Ston swiss had to support his single mom by helping out to sell in their small what we can call typical African restaurant. Deciding on pursuing a musical career was not that easy for Ston swiss as his mom like any other African parent saw it like a “waste of your soul or better still selling of your soul type of career to pursue” so he had to separate himself from his mom and went on to be independent when he was only 19. He like any other youth has a dream to chase so he had to embark on getting enough cash to sponsor his music and Cameroon at that moment is not an easy place to search and get. Ston swiss however, had to drop from college after 2 years of activeness just so he can concentrate and focus on his career.
In 2018, after almost giving up on his quest, Ston swiss met with Dr. Th a sound engineer seeking to follow up a career in music as well. Being a singer and Dr. TH a sound engineer, they had to team to help push each other’s career to the next level and that saw the birth of his debut track “Sarah” featuring Dr. TH.
Ston swiss is not doubt a very big fan of Wizkid, he mentioned “listening to Wizkid draws out the fire in me. Before writing any of my songs, I to listen to a Wizkid playlist before writing and trust me, the results are always amazing. Other artists who inspire me includes Makossa legend Lapiro de Mbanga , Manu Dibango, Fela Kuti, Jovi, Burna boy, Stanley Enow and Davido.
