THE S.D.O OF BAFFOUSSAM PROHIBITS CHILDREN BELOW 14 YEARS FROM ENFORCED HARD LABOR AND HAWKING

The SDO of the MiFi Division  of the West region has recently taken a measure prohibiting hawking by those under the age of 14.

 Acoording to  state owned daily ,Cameroon Tribune,Horlane Tcheutchoua aged 12,was arrested at about 2pm on July 4th,2016 and taken to the central police station Bafoussam, while selling boiled eggs in the street of Baffoussam.

The little girl was anxious and trembling about her fate .Her concern were  even more as she  witnessed helplessly her father, John Henry T, trying to get her released to no avail.
After talks with the police authorities, he was forced to sign a letter with  the Senior Police Commissioner for Bafoussam central,Levi Diffo.

In this letter, John Henry T signs an undertaken never to let his daughter sell on the streets again. On the same day, 36 parents had to go through the same ritual for their 36 children.Before these signings,  seven daughters of the 36  had been in the police custody for a quarter of an hour.

The week before, precisely on the 28th of  June specifically, 30 other children had been taken in similar circumstances.
The operation comes within the framework of the implementation of prefectural decree signed on June 16th  banning minors under 14 years of conducting business throughout the Mifi Division..This text updates the provisions of a previous order made by Joseph Tangwa Fover May 14, 2013.

According to police commissioner, Levi Diffo,“This is the fight against the depravities, kidnappings, ritual murders, rapes … that can happen to these vulnerable.This is the fight against the depravities, kidnappings, ritual murders, rapes … that can happen to these vulnerable,And even though old habits die hard, “our regular runs will continue until the end of the holiday, to create a deterrent to parents,” he added.
