CAMAIR-CO'S PROBLEMS DON'T SEEM TO CLEAR THE AIR AS PILOTS ANNOUNCE A GENERAL STRIKE DUE TO SALARY DELAY

In a memo this Monday 18 of July 2016 , the pilots and flight engineers’ union of the Cameroon civil Aviation (Spinac), addressed to the Minister of Finance(MINFI), Ousmane Mey and the President of the General assembly of Camair-Co(PAC),Akame mfoumou, they will be protesting because of their poor working conditions.

According to the memorandum signed by the commander, Mambingo Ngom, the strike action is also due to the absence of any prospective plan for Camair-Co and also the fact that their salaries have not been paid since May 2016.They are requesting three months of unpaid salaries .

Recently the MINFI has been subsidising the salary of Camair-co staff which has always been in arrears.
The statement from the group of pilots of the state owned airline company notes that salaries for December 2015 was paid in February 2016, that of April 2016 paid in early July of this year.

From 2011 to 2014, Camair-co had 400 to 500 employees, today the workforce is 900 employees, against only 96 additional seats with the two MA60 Chinese made planes which have 48 seats each.
