The objective of the training camp which will be held next July in Yaounde is to find the future Luc Mbah Moute (Los Angeles Clippers) or Joël Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers).
The National Basketball Association (NBA) plans to hold in July 2016 in Yaoundé, a training camp for 300 young people aged from 10 to 14 years. For eight weeks, these young people will be trained by experienced technicians, including of some mandated by the NBA main League of professional basketball in the United States.
The outlines of the project were presented Thursday, June 9, 2016 to the Minister of sport and Physical Education (MINSEP), Bhalla Mkpatt, during a hearing. The Ambassador of the United States to Cameroon, Michael Stephen Hoza, who explained the main contours of the project, said that "Cameroon has generated some great football players and we have a dream of seeing emerge greats of basketball, because there is talent in this country. I hope that we can get the NBA here resources. It is a great opportunity,"says Cameroon Tribune on Friday, June 10, 2016.
Meanwhile, the MINSEP felt delighted with this opportunity to strengthen the capacity of young people in the field of sport, which adds to the sports-études Awards enjoyed some Cameroonians. Many of them live in the University Championships. Several players of the national team of basketball currently in training in preparation for the Olympic qualifying tournament will illustrate also in University Basketball Championship, this sport is one of the most popular in the United States.
To return to training camp that will last eight weeks, it is organized through «NBA without borders», a break-up of the National Basketball Association especially to promote basketball.
